Just a couple of thoughts:

Wouldn't a decent mirror of linux etc., be needed to make it worthwhile.

Sydney is a very hilly location and where it's flat LOS can be hampered.

What sort of microwave antennas are tho old cable tv ones, I have one on my
roof?

To be viable wouldn't internet connectivity be required with wireless
bridges setup to make it viable in connecting many users and made cost
effective with a mirror and large cache.
