Steven - when the US has bad IT employment, so does Australia. A lot of
our big companies have US head offices and experience the same squeezes.
Rarely, we miss out because the Oz subsidiary is doing better the HO.
Steven - I would normally suggest http://www.jobnet.com.au - but there
is so much crap (no existent jobs), that I urge extreme caution. We have
an over supply of IT agencies at the moment and agencies that are lucky
to understand how to use a computer on/off switch. Probably the big
companies with OS offices might be easiest to line up work through.

IT contracting is like a whole range of jobs, rather than one job.
Some areas are doing very badly, unless you have very specialised,
specific skills.
Also, some companies have this "home grown" phobia. Some Australians can
lob into London and do really well too.
BTW - I have just had details of a solaris(2.6) & C programming contract
sent to me, if anyone wants details. Oz citizenship required.
