There are things in the works for GNOME in this regard. The Eazel and Sun
HCI geeks will be working on it, however I have a few little niggles with
the Eazel approach to it.

Basically, community work on it has been shut down until Arlo gets his
version out, and I'm not sure a lot of discussion will take place once it is
(and it's already taken a *long* time).

Still, Eazel have been doing things The Right Way in many other areas, so
we'll see.
