[ANN] OPen Goverment interface......We have received negetive responce to our letter

Muli have now received a negative responce to our ATO January request for
the review
NOT TO PROVIDE A LINUX/ UNIX interface
for BAS after previous undertakings to do so.

We propose that the linux comunity should develop a campaign to raise the broader issue of
"OPEN GOVERMENT INTERFACE WITH THE PEOPLE"
not simply the limited ECI interface.

I propose a meeting  at our offices  or a more central  Sydney location
on say Tuseday the 13 feb at 9.30 am.
If anyone is interested in contributing please contact me so we can coordinate.
 

We need to develop a database of goverment interfaces and in particular those that are not open.
Any  examples are welcome.

I believe that onlly by developing a broad strategy that has political legs that we can get into everyday press we can get  the changes required.

I believe we need to develop a programme that allows our interested supporters to directly email & fax
the goverment decision makers individually will have far more impact  than a simple petition.

Re  the ECI  we propose to publish our extensive comMunications with the tax department .
