SLUG Mailing List ArchivesWe had some communication mishaps, causing delays, but we are now booked to be present at a computer fair on the weekend of Software Freedom Day! The question remains, which day would be better? I've been informed that the Parramatta event (Saturday, on SFD) will be somewhat smaller than the UNSW one (Sunday, the day after). Is it worth delaying the Sydney SFD festivities by a day in order to reach a larger crowd? Other benefits of UNSW include a more central location and the presence of students (who might be more amiable towards FOSS). If we run any side events, they can take place in one of the uni rooms instead of at an entirely different venue. The Computer Fairs people seem quite enthusiastic to have our patronage. After all, geeks love to buy computer gear :) . If it goes well, we could turn this into a regular occurrence. We would not be the first users group to be creating such a partnership with a computer fair. -- "If people had understood how patents would be granted when most of today's ideas were invented and had taken out patents, the industry would be at a complete standstill today." - Bill Gates, 1991
